Photograph with Intention

With Laurie Klein and Meghan Davidson

Learn and practice the art of making, rather than taking a photograph. How many times have you returned from a photo shoot, excited to see your fabulous images, only to find yourself wondering, “What was I thinking?”  If you have trouble getting what you want or even determining what you want, then this class is for you. We will explore conscientious picture making: how to focus, gain clarity, find intention, pre-visualize, and execute ideas and feelings.
Laurie studied with Ansel Adams who thought and wrote extensively about "the ability to anticipate a finished image before making the exposure." Explore and expand your own ability to pre-visualize your images through meditations, mindful exercises, journaling, and role playing. Meghan is Ph.D Psychology and licensed therapist who helps her students and clients with their goals and dreams.

Meghan and Laurie met at a Firefly Institute workshop, together they bring different perspectives to a unified approach to creative expression.

  • You will learn to pre-visualize and develop trust in your photographic process.

  • Hands-on work will include detailed visualization exercises and location shooting.

  • Bring to class your notebook and camera.
